Well-intentioned, but unfortunately not effective!

A customer has informed us that his zinc anode is not working as expected – you can already see the first signs of damage to the propeller in the picture! The reason for this: two assembly errors that are often overlooked.

Firstly, the wrong anode material was used in the wrong water. As the customer is regularly out and about in Dutch inland waters, an aluminum anode would have been the better choice here.

Aluminum anodes offer optimum corrosion protection in brackish and fresh water, effectively preventing damage to sensitive parts such as the propeller.

On the other hand, the customer fixed the anode to the propeller with an adhesive.

This prevented any conductive connection with the component to be protected and the anode could not sacrifice itself as intended.

Important: Anodes must be mounted without adhesive or other insulating materials so that they can fully develop their protective function.
